Sheet 07: Environment Mapping
Exercise: Sky (30 Points)
Reuse your submission for assignment 5 as your codebase for this assignment or start from the sixth project from GitHub.
Add a visible sky-box to the scene. Use your favorite environment map for the sky. You can also use the provided environment map in here. The environment should be reflected on the teapot, making the teapot’s color 50% blue and 50% of the reflected environment. As in the previous assignments: Do not change the initial viewing angle and light source position of the scene for your submission.
Solution.
Use the mouse to interact with the scene.
Spacebar: Toggles animation on/off
R key: Resets the animation and the view
Text description and demo controls
A skybox surrounds the scene with a cubemap of the environment. The environment is reflected on the teapot surface; its color combines 50 percent blue with 50 percent reflected environment color. The textured ground retains the lighting and shadows from the earlier exercises.
Changing the view changes the reflected lookup direction on the teapot. The surrounding skybox provides the distant background while the teapot and ground remain foreground geometry.
Focus the demo with Tab. Space starts or pauses the light animation; R resets animation and view. Camera rotation and panning currently require mouse dragging.
